                                               Garden Club Meetings

The Westham Garden Club meets at Trinity United Methodist Church. The church is located on Forest Avenue  between Stuart Hall and Rock Creek Roads. Entrances to parking lots are on both Stuart Hall and Rock Creek Roads.The Mastin Room is located closest to the Stuart Hall parking lot entrance and is accessible from the back of the church.The Mastin Room is the first room on the right after entering the lower level.

General meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of each month, September through April at 9:30 AM and 7:00 PM unless otherwise scheduled.Refreshments are at 9:30 AM with a business meeting and program following at 10:00 AM.At the 7:00 PM meeting, there is a short business meeting followed by the program.

Members are encouraged to bring guests. Current members who wish to sponsor a new member may go to Members Only and visit our membership page to view procedures for sponsoring a member.

Presenter:  Sheila Weisensale

Sheila is returning to WGC to present a pictorial journey of her extensive cut flower garden and floral designs.  Sheila lives and gardens in Richmond and the flowers she showcases can be grown in your own garden in Westham! This presentation will include pictures and discussion of her favorite cut flower plants as well as floral designs that incorporate her favorites. An informative hand-out summarizing Sheila’s recommendations will be available; for gardeners and lovers of floral design!

RAIN Prom (Richmond Autism Integration Network) Workshop

Members will meet at Mary Lee Gay’s home, 6802 University Drive, to make simple corsages for participants at the RAIN Prom. WGC has participated in this project for the last several years. It is easy, fun and for a great cause. With lots of hands we should finish in about an hour, leaving time for socializing and refreshments.

April 16-WGC General Meeting

10:00 A.M. On location at Sneed’s Nursery, 8756 W. Huguenot Rd.

Program: “Container Gardening” 

Sneed’s staff will present a demonstration on selecting and planting a container garden for your outdoor space. Suggestions will be made for both shady and sunny locations. There is a $5 per person fee paid to Sneed’s at the time of the presentation. Plants, pots and planting medium may e purchased. If you have a pot at home, you may bring it to get suggestions from Sneed’s staff on selecting plants that will grow well and look fabulous in your container. Please email Mary Doug Enghauser at enghauser@verizon.net to let her know that you will be there so that Sneed’s will be prepared for us!

April 18-25 Virginia Historic Garden Week

April 30 – Evening Spring Garden Party—Rain or Shine!!!  Members and spouses are invited to socialize in the garden of the Fleck’s home on Baldwin Road.  Invitations will be sent. RSVP required.

Exciting Opportunity for WGC Members! 
We are seeking volunteers to help with hostessing at the houses/gardens along the River Road Tour of Historical Garden Week on Friday, April 24. 
There are two shifts. The morning shift is from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The afternoon shift is from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.  The tour organizers will assign volunteers to a house/garden. 
Volunteers will receive a complimentary ticket for Thursday’s Monument Avenue tour. Your volunteer ribbon for Friday will also allow you access to the Friday houses during the shift you are not working.
If you are interested in volunteering, please email Mary Lee Gay no later than Friday, February 28. Send email to marylee3334@yahoo.com.  In the email, please include your cell phone number. The list will be forwarded, and volunteers will hear from the Historical Garden Week volunteer chair.
