November Meetings

WGC Board Meeting– Nov. 3, 2022, 9:30 AM- Home of Elizabeth Davis-9010 Wood Sorrel Drive

November General Meetings- Nov. 10, 2022

The morning and evening November meetings will not be workshops. Instead, we will have demonstrations from two floral designers who were featured at the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs convention last spring. There is no registration or charge for these meetings; however, per our new policy, there is a guest fee of $25.00 that may be paid via CheddarUp https://guest-fee-november-meeting.cheddarup.com or at the meeting.  Both meetings will be held Thursday, Nov. 10 at Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church, 7000 Park Ave., Richmond.

We will have to move tables out of the way and set up chairs before the meeting. Help with this would be welcomed. In addition, both Kathy and Gregory will need help bringing their materials into the meeting room. If you would like to help, please arrive at 9:30 AM  or at 6:45 PM.
10:00 AM: Floral demonstration Using Hardware and DIY Store Items
Presenter:  Kathy Ward
Kathy Ward will demonstrate arrangements using parts of dryer vent hose, gutters, PVC pipe and temporary blinds from DIY and hardware stores. This program was very popular at the Convention.Terri and I hope that WGC members will be inspired to create arrangements at home incorporating unusual items.  Kathy’s arrangements will be raffled at the end of the meeting.
7:00 PM :  Floral demonstration
Presenter: Gregory Britt
This will be Gregory Britt’s second time presenting a program for us.  An event designer based in Keswick, Gregory creates arrangements on a grand scale using branches and floral material he has gathered from the roadside, his garden and gardens of friends. Gregory has described himself as “the nice guy who creates epic floral artistry.”    Last time, members created enormous arrangements at home, using many of his ideas. We had many requests for his return.
December Wreath Workshops
The wreath workshops will be on  December 4 at 1:00 PM and December 8 at 10.00 AM in Terri Crawford’s garage (7202 Pinetree Rd.)  Participation is limited to 20 per session.  If you are interested, please contact Terri Crawford at tbc1955@gmail.com. There is a $20.00 fee that covers all supplies except for greens. It is payable at the workshops or by CheddarUP.  For the Dec. 4 workshop, the link is  https://december-wreath-workshop-fee.cheddarup.com and for the Dec. 8 workshop, the link is  https://dec-8-wreath-workshop-fee.cheddarup.com .  Wreath forms are 16 inches, so three buckets of conditioned greens are recommended.  If you would like a bow, please bring ribbon.
